Jim McGovern elected to Chair of Scottish Parliamentary Labour Party
At Tuesday evening’s Scottish Parliamentary Labour Group AGM Jim McGovern was elected to the chair of the parliamentary group’s executive committee.
Mr McGovern will steer the group, which is responsible for co-ordinating communication, information and work among Scottish Labour MPs in Westminster.
The Dundee West MP has previously served as the group’s Vice-Chair over the last year, supporting the out-going Chair Lindsay Roy (MP for Glenrothes).
Jim McGovern said;
“I am honoured to have been selected by my colleagues to act as chair of the Scottish PLP. I have big shoes to fill as Lindsay Roy moves on from his excellent year as the chair.”
“This is a vitally important time for Scotland and the United Kingdom. We must continue to make the positive case for the union and to highlight the flaws in the separatists wish to break up the UK.”
Mr McGovern concluded;
“I am very much looking forward to working with my colleagues in the Scottish PLP as chair to continue working hard for Scotland.”
