Jim McGovern brings Scottish Secretary to Dundee to support games industry
Scottish Secretary Michael Moore has accepted Jim McGovern MP’s invitation to come to Dundee to visit the games industry and see what can be done to support Dundee companies and attract new games businesses to the City.
Jim McGovern sent an early invitation to Michael Moore as soon as the Tories came into power in May when it became clear that the new government would not honour Labour’s games tax break. Mr McGovern has been lobbying several members of the coalition since May to make good on their commitment to support business. He wants to show the Scottish Secretary first hand the advantages that the games tax break or other government support could bring to Dundee’s economy.
Scottish Secretary Michael Moore will come to Dundee on Thursday 7th October to meet with Jim McGovern MP, Dr Bernard King, Principal of Abertay University and Dr Richard Wilson of the Games Industry body TIGA.
Jim McGovern said:
“I am pleased that Michael Moore has accepted my invitation to come to Dundee. The Con-Dem government has to wake up to the fact that other countries are rolling out the red carpet for the games industry while the Con-Dems are pulling the rug out from under ours.
“I will be introducing Michael Moore to the main people in the games industry in Dundee so they can tell him what the government needs to do to support them.”
