Dundee West Member of Parliament Jim McGovern hit out at the threat to the Hilltown’s three out of school clubs this morning. He gave Dundee City Council a grave warning that they should not be directing cuts at child care facilities that allows parents to get out to work. He said: “I had worried parents at my surgery on Friday. They are very concerned that the threatened cuts to the out of school clubs on the Hilltown will lead to closure. “Out of school clubs are vital for parents whose working hours don’t fit around the school day. Many families just need an hour of child care at the start or end of each day that makes it possible for them to go to work. At this time of economic difficulty the last thing the Council should be doing is taking away working parents’ ability to hold down their job. “I am calling on the SNP led Council to think seriously about the effect that their cuts will have, the families it will hurt, and the job situation in our City before they make any rash decisions tonight.” “Last week their cuts were targeted at projects helping people into employment, this week it’s the
