“Our response to the human devastation in has to be the best the government and the British people can manage because is one of the poorest nations on earth without the money and resources to deal with this crisis.

The British Government has been reviewing the situation in and today trebled its aid. We are now giving £20 million to help rescue survivors and provide food, shelter and clean water.

I have made a charitable donation myself through the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund and I understand that the British people have already donated £15 million. I hope that we can continue to be as generous to a country that desperately needs our help and support.”
