Change of Surgery Venue

In today’s defence question session Jim McGovern, MP for Dundee West, called on the government to reassure Remploy employees in Dundee that their jobs were not at risk because of cuts to the defence budget. Defence Minister Peter Luff MP, while being unable to give assurances, offered to meet with Mr McGovern to discuss this issue, an invitation which Mr McGovern has accepted.

In today’s Home Office Questions (January 24th) Jim McGovern, MP for Dundee West, pressed the government over the impact of their immigration policy on Scotland. Highlighting the concerns of business in Dundee Mr McGovern asked the government to alter its policy away from an arbitrary cap to a more flexible and business friendly model.

Dundee West MP Jim McGovern has welcomed the news today (20th January) that Spanish company Gamesa is to locate 170 jobs in the city. These jobs will focus on construction and logistics in new wind turbine technology. This follows the announcement that the Spanish company has decided to base its global operations headquarters in Glasgow.

Today (January 18th) Jim McGovern alongside Paul Durrant of Abertay University, Sir Menzies Campbell MP and Stewart Hosie MP met with David Gauke, Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, to discuss the future of the computer games industry.
