Change of Surgery Venue

The GMB trade union today released research ranking Scottish areas by the ratio between job-seekers and available jobs. Dundee was rated as being toward the top of the chart, making the number of job-seekers chasing jobs to those available to be above the Scottish national average. In Dundee there are 6.4 job-seekers for every available job.

Following representations made to Jim McGovern, the Dundee West MP asked the government to ensure that the contracts they have with the company, which are vital for keeping it in business, are safeguarded. Remploy was established in the wake of the Second World War to provide employment to disabled service personnel, and has since developed into a company that specialises in providing employment for those with disabilities. Most of their contracts still come from the MOD.

Today in the House of Commons Jim McGovern, MP for Dundee West, put his concerns to the government during a debate on an amendment to the current Finance Bill put forward by the Labour front-bench Treasury team, calling for a tax relief for the computer games industry.

Today in the House of Commons Jim McGovern, MP for Dundee West, questioned the government over its decision to scrap the Cancer Treatment Guarantee which was bought in under the last government and which ensured minimum waiting times for cancer patients.
