Dundee West MP Jim McGovern today wrote to the manager of the Discovery Credit Union based in the Wellgate centre asking them whether it would be possible to provide Child Trust Fund Accounts. Speaking today Mr McGovern explained why he was making this suggestion:

Dundee West MP Jim McGovern and Rapid Response Chair the Revd Erik Cramb today met with Jim Murphy MP, the Minister of State for Employment and the Minister in Westminster with responsibility for supporting Dundee’s efforts to find employment for those being made redundant.

Since the large redundancies from NCR and Tesco and other companies in Dundee Jim has been doing all he can to attract more jobs to Dundee and to talk up the City. Here, he urges the Government to work harder to relocate civil service jobs to the city, a point he continues to raise in private meetings as well.

Dundee West MP Jim McGovern today urged the Government to look seriously at Dundee as a potential site for any civil service jobs that are relocated out of London and the South East of England.
