On Saturday Dundee West MP Jim McGovern joined thirty foolhardy souls to abseil down the face of Dundee University’s Tower building. The abseil was to raise money for the charity, Link Overseas.

Jim works closely with his Trade Union, the GMB and is more than happy to praise employers when they have close relationships with those Unions. Here he praises G4S who are working closely with the GMB to help reduce the amount of attacks made on their staff whilst doing cash deliveries.

Local Government workers who had signed a petition calling for the protection of their pensions fund received another boost today as they got a detailed response from Dundee West MP Jim McGovern who has forwarded that petition on their behalf.

Dundee Muslims today received a detailed response from the Government to a petition signed by over 300 people opposing the publication of the now notorious Danish cartoons which depicted the prophet Muhammad in a disrespectful manner.

Once again devolution caused a slightly confusing situation in relation to bird flu. Whilst agriculture and health are devolved the Civil Contingencies plan obviously operates on a UK wide basis. Jim was keen to make sure that the Scottish officials weren’t left out of the loop and that their expertise was exploited as much as possible.
