Jim’s maiden speech; the maiden speech is a tradition in Parliament which allows members to speak about their constituency, to complement their predecessors and to set out any thoughts they might have for their upcoming term.

Jim McGovern MP, the newly elected representative for Dundee West yesterday (Tuesday) made his first speech to the House of Commons. The Maiden Speech is an opportunity for a new representative to introduce himself and his constituency to the House and Mr McGovern took full advantage.
